This safety vest is simply amazing in its function – and at the same time absolutely comfortable and discreet to wear! After a fall at full gallop and hitting the ground on my back, I first had to pinch myself to realize that I had just fallen off the horse. I didn’t even feel the impact! I’ve been wearing this vest (CrossCountry Airbag Vest) since spring. Out in the countryside I wear it over my regular protective vest, and in the arena I use it on its own. You hardly notice it at all. I had a fall into a Trakehner ditch in spring and another one at Pulvermann’s Grab two weeks ago – came out of both completely unharmed. This vest saved my daughter’s life!!
How it happened: My daughter was on a ride along a deep reservoir on a narrow path when her stirrup got caught on a tree. She fell off the horse and down the steep slope into the reservoir, hitting her head on another tree on the way, which knocked her unconscious as she plunged about 2 meters under the water. The fall from the path to the water surface was about 10 meters at an angle of around 50° — that’s my estimate after inspecting the accident site. Fortunately, the vest deployed reliably and protected her spine very well during further impacts with trees on her back during the fall. In addition, the vest functioned like a kind of life jacket, so that my daughter — who at the moment of hitting the water was still unconscious at about 2 meters depth — immediately resurfaced. She herself cannot remember anything except a heavy blow to the head, from which I conclude that she was indeed unconscious. I don’t know how she managed to get out of the water again — she was riding alone and was probably in shock. Luckily, she wasn’t far from the stable, so she was able to return there on foot, completely soaked from the fall into the lake. Thanks to the vest, she didn’t drown in the reservoir, since in this case it really worked like a life jacket and kept my daughter afloat until she regained consciousness. Many thanks to you as the manufacturer of this great vest!! It truly saved my daughter’s life!

I’ve only had the CrossCountry airbag vest for a short time, but I’m absolutely thrilled. I got to know and appreciate it through the Emergency Symposium at the University of Bonn. From my professional experience in emergency medical services, I’ve witnessed quite a number of riding accidents and their outcomes. I’ve been wearing this vest for over three years now and have had four unplanned dismounts, some with a high impact. And every time I came out of it lightly – thanks to the vest. It has always deployed very reliably, and thanks to the YouTube video I was able to easily replace the cartridge myself. The vest is also really comfortable to wear even in high temperatures. Yes, you do notice it a little, since the cartridge does have some weight, but it’s nothing compared to the rigid vests, which I always found restrictive and bothersome. What I find great is that the vest can be adjusted to your clothing, whether over a light top or a heavy down jacket. I “tested” my Hit Air Cross Country vest yesterday. Fantastic – I’ve never landed so softly before. I’d love to quickly get back on my bucking monster, but for good reason I won’t do it without the vest. I actually found the original tool kit after all, and with it the cartridge was very easy to replace. Perfect. I’ve already ordered new cartridges.
I love my waistcoat! Such great and comfortable protection. Before I had the waistcoat, I used to fly off my horse with a similar swing and had problems with my back for months.

We went with our young new horse to a…
We were out on a trail ride with our young new horse. For us, it’s normal to tighten the girth only after a walking phase. This is completely routine and we don’t think much of it anymore. However, for the new horse this everyday situation must have felt threatening, and as soon as I put my leg in front of the knee rolls, it started bucking. I couldn’t sit it out and fell off the horse. The “HitAir Cross Country” vest I was wearing was properly attached to the girth strap with the lanyard and deployed within milliseconds. Even before I hit the ground, the air cushions were fully inflated and I landed as if on an air mattress. Fortunately, the horse didn’t run away and, after a small circle, came back to us. I took off the inflated vest and first took care of the “runaway.” Once everything was safe again, we walked home on foot and reassembled the vest within 5 minutes, rearming it with a new cartridge. The following ride remained free of falls.
Especially with a young horse, I can only recommend the vest. It doesn’t restrict you, allows good freedom of movement, and, when used correctly, provides reliable protection.
We are hunt riders, and I have already seen many falls that turned out lightly thanks to the airbag vest.

After much research on different vests, my husband gave me your airbag vest as a gift. A very sensible investment. During a riding course in Warendorf – my horse was jumping solid cross-country obstacles for the first time – I performed an unplanned aerial acrobatic maneuver, which happened to be caught on video. Although I landed flat on my back and pelvis after a stretched somersault from a great height, I sustained no injuries at all and was able to continue the course without interruption. In particular, the unfolding coccyx/pelvic cushion seems to have provided valuable protection here…

I've been using the Hit-Air cross-country airbag waistcoat for some time now and I'm absolutely delighted with it! It sits comfortably, hardly restricts you when riding - and if the worst comes to the worst, it works reliably. The first time I involuntarily fell off my horse, I was surprised at first, but the waistcoat deployed in a flash and cushioned the impact considerably.
What used to be scary is now almost funny: the waistcoat makes falling feel more like a controlled plop, which defuses the situation enormously. I never thought it would be possible to laugh about a fall - but that's exactly what happened with the Hit-Air waistcoat!
