According to the German Federal Working Group "More Safety for Children" (BAG), 30,000 people are injured in riding accidents in Germany every year. In addition to proper rider training in handling and working with horses, personal protective equipment can make a significant contribution to reducing the risk of injury.
While riding helmets have become widely accepted, the willingness to wear a safety vest remains low — conventional models are often seen as too uncomfortable, bulky, and unattractive.
The feeling of the riding turtle makes many riders forget about their own safety and purchased protectors remain in the saddle locker or car.

How the Hit-Air Airbag System Works
First, a cartridge is screwed in straight and securely. The vest’s coiled lanyard is then attached to the tether strap, D-ring, or mounting point on the front of the saddle. After mounting the horse as usual, the rider “buckles up” just like in a car — by connecting the vest to the coiled lanyard. The coiled lanyard allows full freedom of movement in the saddle. Posting trot, jumping, or riding in a forward seat does not restrict the vest’s performance.
Only when the rider becomes separated from the horse does the coiled lanyard activate the vest. Once the activation distance is reached, the protective air cushion inflates within a fraction of a second. The neck area, upper body, and tailbone are cushioned, while the hip and neck pads automatically deploy.
Once activated, the gas remains fully contained in the vest for about 10 seconds before it slowly begins to escape through the valve. At this point, the gas cartridge can be removed, and the remaining air will fully release when the air cushions are compressed.
The vest is reusable, as only the cartridge needs to be replaced and the “key ball” reinserted into the activation mechanism.
The riding vest with airbag acts as a buffer and absorbs impact to the upper body during a fall, thereby reducing the risk of injury for the wearer of an airbag safety vest. Our airbag products offer exceptional protection combined with high wearing comfort. However, no protector can offer absolute safety. It is recommended to combine airbag products with passive protective gear certified to EN 13158 for equestrian and carriage driving sports. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.
